As the UK is still in a national lockdown, we’re all dreaming of our next getaway, with high hopes this could be at Easter.
Despite the Government’s recent suggestion that people should not book domestic or international holidays right now, we think camping will be one of the first holiday types to get the green light.
It’s easy to social distance, everyone has their own isolated living quarters and, if you have a campervan conversion, you’ve got your own cooking facilities and possibly even your own loo.
With that in mind, we’ve taken a look at some of the campsites which would normally take bookings over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.
Please bear in mind, this is based on each campsite’s usual opening times, and we recommend contacting them once lockdown is over to confirm their status.
For now though, let’s give ourselves something to look forward to, and don’t forget to stock up on Easter eggs ahead of your trip.
Devon campsite open on Easter
Based in beautiful North Devon, Ocean Pitch, is a stone’s throw from Croyde Beach where you can enjoy a spot of April surfing, if you’re brave enough.
The site offers camping and is in the perfect location to access Croyde’s shops as well as the South West Coast Path should you fancy a walk or cycle.
You’ll find everything you need to make your camping trip perfect, from hot showers to ultra-clean toilets plus internet access.
Cornwall campsite open at Easter
Watergate Camping is in an idyllic spot with direct access to the West Looe river for fishing, paddling and canoeing.
This is the perfect campsite for nature lovers, with kingfishers and herons regularly visiting the site plus all sorts of small mammals.

Aberdeen campsite open on Easter
East Balthangie Caravan Park is the perfect campsite from which to explore the Banffshire Coast in all its beauty.
Bear in mind this is a basic campsite with no fancy frills, though you will find well-maintained loos, showers and even a laundry room.
If you’re a keen cyclist make sure you take your bike as there’s direct access to the North Sea Cycle Route – perfect for working off those Easter eggs.
Lake District campsite open on Easter
Low Greenlands Holiday Park, situated close to both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, isn’t short of five-star reviews and it’s easy to see why.
It’s possible one of the only campsites we’ve come across which offers a luxury chauffeur travel service to transport guests to the Lakes and beyond.
There’s no shortage of nearby activities either, with miniature golf, helicopter rides, archery and even a garden centre within 100 yards of the campsite at Greenlands Farm Village.
Be sure to pack your walking boots too - it goes without saying that the surrounding landscapes are stunning.
Peak District campsite open at Easter
Situated in the heart of the Peak District, Greencroft Caravan Site is a back-to-basics campsite naturally surrounded by sprawling views with only your fellow campers and a few cows for company.
Within a 15-minute drive is the town of Bakewell - home of the famous tart by the same name (that’s if you can fit one in after all the chocolate).
Also within 20 minutes of the campsite is Chatsworth House, made famous by its name drop in the original Pride and Prejudice.
Closer to home is the village of Youlgrave with shops, cafes and pubs serving food and drink for hungry mouths.
South Wales campsite open at Easter
Overlooked by the Welsh Black Mountains to the west of the Brecon Beacons, Brynglas Retreat is set on two acres of private grounds and describes itself as a ‘semi-wild campsite’.
There is a compostable toilet on-site and no electric hookups, and most of the time this is an adults-only campsite.
In the owner’s own words, the retreat is set in an area where ‘the loudest noise is the stream cascading through our land’, so if you’re looking for a peaceful Easter break in 2021, this is it.
Somerset campsite open on Easter
With an on-site cafe, spacious play areas and a stunning spot alongside the River Axe, you could be forgiven for not leaving Diamond Farm Holiday Park during your entire stay.
However, you’ll probably want to, as it’s just a 20-minute walk to Brean beach and only a short drive to the likes of Wookey Hole, Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury.
The farm has views out over the Mendips and Weston-super-Mare and is equipped with two washroom blocks with shower facilities, described as ‘spotless’ by visitors.
Hampshire campsite open on Easter
As the name suggests, Marwell Activity Centre isn’t your average campsite.
With an indoor playground, a gym, an on-site restaurant and fishing available there’s enough to keep you occupied for the whole of your visit.
What’s more, the centre is just 1.5 miles from Marwell Zoo if you fancy a day trip to see the lions.
Facilities here are as good as they come, with toilets, showers and WiFi available plus you’re welcome to set up your own barbecue and cook as you go.
Campsites open on Easter 2021
There should be plenty of options above to get you excited for an Easter 2021 break - now let’s all hope and pray for an easing of lockdown restrictions.
Hopefully, it won’t be long before we’re packing everything but the kitchen sink into our campervan conversions for a UK holiday.
If you’re yet to get your campervan converted, please get in touch. We won’t be able to fit it in before Easter but can give you an idea of our availability.
