Are you in need of last-minute Christmas gift ideas? Then look no further! We've compiled an incredible list of local companies offering fantastic items and services that will truly capture the Christmas spirit.

Shopping locally not only provides unique and thoughtful gifts but also contributes to a lower carbon footprint. It's a great way to support real people and families who are dedicated to building their brands and businesses, often while managing a busy home life.

Here's our list of local North Devon companies, presented in no particular order:

Badger & Bear - A company based in Bideford, North Devon specialises in tailor-made clothing with so much vibrancy and colour that you know when you’re wearing Badger and Bear! I adore Kelly's clothes and her fabric choices are incredible! She also creates zero-waste clothing which goes so well with our family ethos. Check out her website, she does both adult and children’s clothing as well as lovely stocking fillers.

As a company, we hope to collaborate a bit more with Kelly. We will be introducing her zero-waste cloth wipes into our reception area over the next couple of weeks so watch this space...

Wanderlust Life Jewellery - A company you’re bound to of heard of! A beautiful jewellery store located in Braunton, North Devon. Wanderlust Life founder and creative director Georgie Roberts launched the brand from her spare bedroom in the local seaside village of Croyde in 2013. From there it’s evolved into a global brand. They design and make their jewellery in their Braunton studio with their best-selling piece, the fine cord necklace, available in so many lovely colours. Alongside their exquisite visual mantra inspired pieces they have a brilliant sustainability ethos.

Johns of Instow & Appledore - these shops are brimming with beautiful and local items all set to tempt you. The produce within the shop and cafe are all locally sourced seasonal food which supports the local community too. They do online delivery as well as local delivery, from things like cheese and meat to rums and wine! If you are local be sure to pop in as their cafe is filled with incredible food and the deli has a wide selection of goodies too.

Dry Robe - a company you’re bound to have heard of! But did you know they started just around the corner from us? Gideon Bright, a North Devon UK-based surfer and the founder of Dry Robe explains in their journal that his Mum who was a dab hand with a sewing machine created him this ‘robe’ for Christmas when he was 16.

They sell much more than the original dry robes which are the most incredible fast drying and super warm garment! So much so that I see them all of the time on the school run - so they have surpassed their original design purpose of swimming, surfing or any outdoor adventures that you might have! Take a look at their website for the full range of products that they sell - even better they are a B Corp Certified Company means that our business practices are recognised for promoting positive environmental and social change!

SOS Surf, Westward Ho - A lovely little surf shop in the heart of Westward Ho! Selling both clothing and accessories, this shop is awesome for a Christmas browse. I particularly loved their branded SOS T-shirts! The owners of this shop are the people behind the popular clothing brand 'Old Guys Rule' so they know how to produce quality.

Posting amazing lifestyle content to really draw in the consumer, SOS Surf Facebook and Instagram is really inspiring! You can message them to order if you’re not heading to Westward Ho!

Tiki Surf Co - This shop in the heart of Braunton has been serving the UK's surf scene since 1967 and remains the only British surf brand to have its own surfboard and wetsuit range. They also stock a wide range of equipment and clothing from some of the best surf brands from around the world. Another great store for a Christmas browse but it also has a really great website too.

Sustainability is at the forefront of Tiki. They offer a free wetsuit recycling facility as well as 10% off a new Tiki Wetsuit in exchange for an old suit. Not only that but they’re part of the movement that is collecting billions of ocean-bound plastic bottles in collaboration with Ocean Co.

Devon Outdoor - Ashford, for the larger campervan accessories purchases! Located next to St Johns Garden Centre in Ashford a stone's throw away from us, this shop has everything you need to buy for your caravan/camping road trip. Although the awning display is not open during winter they still have a huge choice of camping supplies!

Pura Vida - Barnstaple. I popped in here on my way past the door last week and was blown away with the variety of products they have. This eco-friendly and plastic-free store was laid out so well and had a lot of locally sourced products. Bring your own container or jar and fill up on any essentials!

Plus there’s a lovely selection of handmade gifts, crafts and cards ready for Christmas.

I hope that you have enjoyed reading our blog. It really is important to bypass the big chains where possible and support the local companies this Christmas. Spending our money with these companies means they will be able to continue doing what they do. As my friend said, every time an order comes in, she does a happy dance! It can make such a difference.
